Youngstown, OH – Meridian HealthCare is proud to announce the appointment of Lewis Spirtos, M.D. as Chief Medical Officer, effective July 14, 2025. A Board-Certified Psychiatrist and Addictionologist, Dr. Spirtos brings a wealth of experience and a forward-thinking approach to integrated behavioral and medical health services.

Dr. Spirtos joins Meridian with over a decade of clinical leadership and patient-centered care. Most recently serving as the Medical Director at Mercy Health in Youngstown, he developed and implemented multiple groundbreaking programs, including “Traditional Mental Health Intensive Outpatient” and “Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient” programs, which have significantly expanded access to treatment and improved outcomes for individuals struggling with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

While also introducing innovative treatments such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato therapy, his leadership in outpatient services has led to the successful treatment of thousands of individuals throughout the Mahoning Valley and beyond.
