Meridian HealthCare works in partnership with businesses to develop customized testing and wellness programs to meet their employees’ needs and reduce workplace injury.
Meridian HealthCare works in partnership with businesses to develop customized testing and wellness programs to meet their employees’ needs and reduce workplace injury.
Meridian began offering drug and alcohol testing and counseling services in 1989, but soon expanded offerings to include a variety of additional services: the Drug-Free Workplace program, drug testing, the Workforce Wellness program, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and training/consulting services.
Companies can choose individual services or allow the Meridian program to develop a customized solution that can address a broad range of workplace wellness issues. Meridian staff includes primary care physicians, nurses, licensed social workers, licensed professional counselors, medical review officers, as well as certified EAP and substance abuse professionals.
A drug-free workplace can be a reality — but only if a systematic, effective program is implemented.
Meridian can help develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive drug-free workplace program that complies with the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation and Department of Transportation (DOT) services.
Components of the program can include policy review, education and training, alcohol and drug screenings, random testing selection services, Medical Review Officer (MRO) services, DOT-related Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) services, non-DOT Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) services, and DOT Consortium Services.
Meridian offers a full range of drug and alcohol testing, available as on-site services or conducted at a Meridian facility. All tests are administered by a certified lab and breath alcohol technicians to ensure accurate, reliable results.
Drug screens help lower healthcare and workers’ compensation costs associated with work-related injuries and impairment while promoting better on-the-job performance.
Meridian’s drug testing services minimize the negative impacts of substance abuse in the workplace such as absenteeism, lower productivity and injured workers. Drug testing services are also an important tool for companies mandated by law to meet the requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT), Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC), Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), or other regulatory bodies.
Our wellness programs ensure that employees with low health risks remain that way while helping those with medium- and high-risk health factors find a path to better health.
Workforce wellness helps companies reduce workforce healthcare costs, decrease absenteeism and increase productivity. Components of these services can include biometric testing, individual and group training sessions, health risk assessments, fit testing, health coaching and other customizable programs.
The majority of employee healthcare claims can be traced back to unhealthy habits, such as overeating, lack of exercise and smoking. Our program specifically targets these areas of concern and assists you in reversing your organization’s negative health behavior.
Provided as a benefit to employees, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can help employers improve worker morale and productivity. This program is designed for individuals who want to take advantage of short-term problem-solving for life events, workplace issues and personal problems.
At the employee’s request or through supervisor referral, an employee, immediate family member or anyone living within the household can meet with a certified counselor outside of the work environment. There is no cost to the employee for this service.
A troubled employee is a less productive employee. With this program in place, most issues affecting employee productivity can be resolved in just a few sessions.
Meridian’s occupational health training and consulting services can be customized to meet any organization’s unique needs: first aid/CPR/AED, BWC Drug-Free Safety Training, fit testing blood-borne pathogens, stress reduction, tobacco cessation education and more!
Training services are offered at Meridian, on-site at your business, or at an outside location.
These consulting services are ideal for companies who are looking to implement compliance or safety programs in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Turn to Meridian to address workplace concerns like personal safety, managing difficult people, nutrition, sleep health and sexual harassment.
How do I start employee drug testing?
Policy development should always be your drug testing starting point. Meridian can help you with all aspects of designing, implementing and carrying out your workplace drug and alcohol testing procedures.
Which testing method should our business use?
Meridian offers a full range of testing products including breathalyzers and urine drug testing. The method of drug testing that you choose will be dependent on your drug and alcohol testing policy.
How do you measure alcohol?
Our certified lab and breath alcohol technicians use digital alcometers and can administer an 80-hour alcohol test that provides an accurate reading of both current and prior use.
How long after a drug is taken does it remain detectable?
Detectability varies from substance to substance, but it typically takes between a few days and a few weeks for a drug to disappear from the body. Specific timescales for any drug, as well as further technical information, is available upon request.
Can the drug tests be cheated?
Our testing procedure includes several countermeasures to foil the most common ways of cheating on a drug test – making it all but impossible to obtain a fraudulent result.
What types of certifications do your Meridian staff members have?
Medical testing and physical exams are conducted by our experienced professionals. Meridian staff includes primary care physicians, nurses, licensed social workers, licensed professional counselors, medical review officers, as well as certified EAP and substance abuse professionals.
