Withdrawal Management Program (DETOX)

Meridian’s Withdrawal Management Program (detox) is a 16-bed detoxification center focused on recovery from drug abuse or alcohol use through the care of experienced mental health and medical professionals.

How Does the Withdrawal Management Program Work?

Patients admitted to the Withdrawal Management Program are overseen by a 24-hour, experienced nursing staff that helps to manage withdrawal symptoms, monitor blood pressure, and provide overall support. Individuals usually stay between 3 and 7 days.

If a patient is on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and struggling with benzodiazepines or alcohol withdrawal, we will continue their addiction medicine while in our detox program.

Meridian’s trusted staff continuously assesses vital signs and symptoms of withdrawal for all patients onsite to provide the right level of care. Also, staff members complete a biopsychosocial assessment to determine the next step in treatment once a patient has completed detox. While in detox, patients attend groups and meet with a counselor daily.

When Does Someone Need Detox?

Meridian’s assessment staff conducts evaluations to determine whether or not a patient needs drug detox. Detox is the first step in the recovery process for someone struggling with substance use disorder. Detox from substance abuse can address different drug addictions like opiates, stimulants, and alcohol use.

If you or a loved one may be in need of detox services, please call 330-797-0070 and the Meridian staff will assist in finding the right level of care.

Understanding Medication-Assisted Treatment Programs

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is for individuals addicted to opioids, such as heroin, morphine, or prescription medications. MAT treatment can continue while a client is in our Withdrawal Management Detox Program. MAT programs commonly use medications like methadone, suboxone (buprenorphine), and naltrexone/Vivitrol to aid in opioid withdrawal. These medications either reduce opioid cravings or prevent the euphoric effects of drug use.

Planning for True Recovery

After a patient has completed Withdrawal Management/Detox, depending on that patient’s need, they can continue with other services at Meridian. Services can include MAT, intensive outpatient treatment, inpatient care, etc.

Before discharge from the program, our counselors meet with each patient and discuss treatment options. Meridian is proud also to offer the following addiction treatment services:
