What Is Addiction?

Addiction is more than just a craving; it’s a severe condition that affects all aspects of a person’s life, from relationships and hobbies to work and school. Addiction affects a person’s self-control; individuals continue to partake in addictive behaviors despite the negative consequences.

Addiction Recovery Services at Meridian HealthCare

Addiction affects each person differently, so there is no one singular treatment program to address every addiction for every person. Meridian’s treatment centers offer recovery services to fit each person’s needs, including both inpatient and outpatient programs.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Meridian’s medication-assisted treatment programs help those overcoming opioid drug addiction. MAT programs use medications like methadone, suboxone, and naltrexone to reduce addiction cravings and prevent the high from substance abuse. This program requires the participant to follow strict guidelines from their medical professional, including intensive counseling sessions and random drug screens.

Withdrawal Management

Detox is the first step in the recovery process for addiction. For those recovering from drug abuse, withdrawal symptoms can be severe. Meridian’s 16-bed detoxification center supports those detoxing from drugs or alcohol with the 24/7 care of mental health and medical professionals.

Support Groups

Support groups and group therapy are a helpful addition to any treatment plan. They allow people with the same addiction to get together to offer each other support and advice. Meeting people with similar problems and experiences aids in the recovery process

Mental Health Services & Counseling

The mental health professionals at Meridian understand that not everyone has the same experiences — and that a single treatment plan won’t work for everyone. Meridian provides individual counseling for each patient to overcome any mental health problems they’re facing.

Co-Occurring Disorders

Addiction commonly co-occurs with other mental conditions like depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. The recovery process at Meridian addresses all co-occurring disorders, not just addiction and substance use disorders. Treat all present mental conditions to increase the odds of a successful recovery.

Residential Treatment

Meridian offers a residential treatment program for both men and women to address alcohol or drug addictions in a supportive, safe environment. Our residential care is highly specialized and designed to support recovery with 24-hour care.

A typical day in our residential treatment centers will include group therapy, individual counseling, educational sessions, 12-step meetings, and personal time. Residential stays are typically between 30 and 45 days.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Our intensive outpatient programs provide effective addiction treatment while participants live at home and attend work, school, or other activities. Outpatient treatment programs can include alcohol and drug education, individual therapy, support groups, aftercare, relapse prevention, meeting with family members, mental health counseling for co-occurring disorders, and random drug screens.
