Recovery-Focused Addiction Services

Hope means something different to everyone. For those battling addiction and substance abuse, true recovery includes having hope for a better tomorrow. With Meridian, recovery is possible. When you’re ready, so are we.

Substance Abuse & Addiction Treatment Services

The use and abuse of drugs and alcohol is widespread – many of us have either personally struggled with the disease or know of someone who has. While addiction is a primary, progressive and chronic disease, it is treatable with the right program and support.

The path to recovery is unique to each individual and Meridian’s experience and expertise can help.

Alcohol Abuse

Meridian HealthCare has close to 50 years of experience in successfully treating individuals of all ages who have an issue with alcohol or an alcohol addiction. Since alcoholism is a disease with psychological components, treatment must encompass both the physical and mental state of someone who is suffering from alcoholism.

Drug Addiction

Meridian HealthCare provides programs and services to combat addiction to drug use. Substances like opioids, methamphetamines, cocaine, ecstasy, designer drugs and marijuana. Meridian HealthCare brings the experience, resources and individualized attention needed to effectively treat drug addiction and abuse.

Prescription Drug Abuse

One of the most commonly abused drugs are prescriptions, including anti-anxiety medications, sedatives, stimulants, anti-seizure medications and painkillers, such as Vicodin and Oxycodone. Meridian HealthCare offers a number of treatment programs and services, from education sessions to residential treatment.

Your First Step Toward Hope: Assessment

Before treatment can begin, an assessment will be conducted with you and/or your loved one and a master’s level, licensed counselor within Meridian HealthCare’s Assessment Department.

Our assessment is a vital part of beginning treatment and ensures admission to the appropriate program. The welcoming staff at the Meridian Main Campus or the Warren Office location will guide you through the process.

The assessment is a conversation between you, the assessment counselor and your family member (if applicable) to better understand your concerns and the reason you’re seeking treatment. Our counseling services utilize a person-centered approach that prioritizes non-judgment, non-discrimination and personalization.

FAQ: Addiction & Substance Abuse Treatment

The time between your assessment and admission will vary based on the program and availability. For persons in crisis, treatment may begin immediately. For outpatient program individuals, we strive to begin treatment within one week following the assessment.

Meridian HealthCare accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance and self-pay, which is based on a sliding fee scale. We also offer assistance in obtaining Medicaid. There is also a limited amount of funds available for residents without a payer source, based on your location and program assignment. The goal is to help you obtain the most appropriate, comprehensive care in the most cost-effective manner. If you have questions about affording treatment services, please contact our assessment case manager at 330-797-0070 or 330-270-5325 for the Youngstown location or 330-318-3873 for the Warren location.

You will have to provide a drug screen if you are seeking treatment for substance use concerns. Our lab staff provides a comfortable environment for the screen that will help put your concerns/discomfort at ease.

Withdrawal Management Program (DETOX)

Meridian’s Withdrawal Management Program is a 16-bed detoxification center that allows individuals to detox from drugs or alcohol under the care of medical and mental health professionals. Individuals receive 24-hour medical care and peer support, and usually stay between 3 to 7 days.

Residential Treatment Program

Meridian offers a structured, residential program for men and women in need of intensive treatment and support. A typical day includes group therapy; individual counseling; educational sessions; 12-step meetings; and time for reflection, recreation, wellness and fellowship. Stays range between 30-45 days.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program

This program assists individuals in achieving desired life changes by providing education about the addiction process while promoting abstinence and the development of a sober recovery support system. Substance abuse education occurs in group and individual settings and also includes random drug screens.

Medication-Assisted Treatment Program

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is for individuals addicted to opioids, such as heroin, morphine or prescription medications. Clients are required to undergo random urine drug screens and participate in intensive counseling sessions and other recovery activities. Free consultations are offered.

Mental Health Services/Counseling

Our counselors and mental health professionals provide patient-centered, individual counseling, and come up with a treatment plan specific to the problems you are facing. Our treatment providers are trained in evidence-based therapy to treat the whole person in order to lessen dependency/improve mental health.

What Do Current and Recovering Patients Have to Say About Meridian?

I am so grateful for Meridian. I came in at 80 pounds and have now been clean for years. The doctor listened to how I felt and praised me for my years of recovery and all my work to stay clean (completing all counseling groups and meetings). Thank you for giving me my life back when I thought it was over for me.

Meridian is a great place! I’ve been to many treatment facilities in the past and this is the only one that truly listened to my concerns. You know you’re truly cared for at Meridian. They give you all the tools you need for your recovery and it’s up to you to use them. It teaches you accountability and helps you appreciate recovery more. If you’re debating about going to Meridian, don’t debate and just go! You’ll be happy you did! Thank you, Meridian! You are all awesome!

Meridian has been a huge part of my recovery. I have been clean for 4 years! I’m so grateful for this place and the people in it!

If you want help, are serious, and tired of the way you are living, go to Meridian! The counselors are great! If your first counselor isn’t a good fit, you can choose a new one. They will also help you find a doctor. I was so afraid, but what do you have to lose? Anyone who reads this, do not be afraid.

They really helped me get my life back. I know for a fact that without them, I would be dead. I’m very grateful for all the services they provided for me.
